Corporations own newspapers and news networks, determine the foods we eat, and, as we saw in 2008, can send the country into a recession. More recently, with the overwhelming role of money in politics, corporations have gained the power to shape democracy itself. We’ll examine the ways businesses drive societal change, both positively and negatively, and discuss how professionals at all levels can navigate this evolving landscape.
Community
The communities we belong to—whether it be our gym partners, faith groups, family, or volunteer circles—are deeply impacted by policies, business decisions, and cultural shifts. Traditionally, we have kept these groups in separate silos, but true progress comes from bringing people together across backgrounds, experiences, and passions.
By fostering collaboration and shared purpose, we can strengthen communities to serve as a check on both corporate power and political influence.
